Craigslist is being swamped with tons of fake employment ads offering unusually high pay. Most of these ads are posted by someone with a gmail, gmx, live, in or even yahoo addresses, but now they get smarter by just using craigslist auto response addresses. The jobs sound very generic, usually Receptionist, Administrative Assistants. By responding you will notice you get almost an instant response where they prompt you to fill out an application – DO NOT DO THIS – IT IS BOGUS. I am unsure of what the scam is and how they profit, I can only imagine they fish for information, hence you email gets clogged with spam. Legit job ads follow general pay scales and tend to elaborate about the company, with company website info, phone number, etc.

He wants my original purchase receipts as well. That made me very suspicious. He even said he was currently out of town visiting a sick grandma. I told him to be careful when he got there, that there might be a wolf in the bed.
I also asked if he was the same [email protected] listed here on ScamRadar.com and that he might want to switch it up if so. What a novice. Why wouldn’t he create a new account after each fraudulent transaction?
It’s kind of funny, except for the people he cheated…
I love the idea to have them send the checks to some random address and then telling them that “I’m sorry, could you send a replacement? I was out of town and my assistant burned it, or my dog ate it.” Haha, awesome. We could have a little competition to see how many we can convince them to send.

he’s trying to buy an ipod off of me from craigslist. he says he’s visiting his “sick grandmother” but the ipod was for his “collegue”. he offered to pay the full amount of the ipod plus “100 USD” to cover shipping costs. when shipping a 1lb box there usps express intl mail would only cost about $35. so i googled his address thinking something was strange about that, and i found about a billion sites just like this one of people who got ripped off by someone with a very similar address.

I simply wrote her back and said all transactions would need to be completed through ebay. I knew this was a fake, specifically because I mention in the ad that the cell phone is worth a little over $200 brand new, and that mine is used… then she offers me $300?
If it sounds too good to be true, it always is.
Also,
Craigslist users who are looking for housing – watch out for ‘Kim Davis’ under the email ‘[email protected].’ She claims that due to ‘poor rental history’ she will need you to send her your credit score; the scam comes when she says ‘I reccomend using the folllowing site…’ then lists the website. The website is a tracking/phishing scam. I immediately closed it and email her back saying my computer would not allow me to open it and that my virus program went nuts when I tried.
I never heard back from her.

What is the Mary.C.Collins scam about? I got what looked like an automated response from a craigslist ad and went to the free credit report website she mentioned in it. What are they getting from this?
MARY C COLLINS beware! Man! these people drive me crazy. Mary C Collins posted a great housing add on seattle craigslist. She responds asking you to bring in your own credit report. You go to the free credit report site and it asks for your credit card number. Says you won’t be charged during the initial trial period; however it is very difficult to cancel and you start getting repeat charges. I ran into this very similar thing one month ago under the name Thomas Pontani.

i got an email saying that someone was intrested in my truck that is posted on craigslist and the person said that they were out on a boat as an engineer and that they would pay me more than what i was asking for the truck and that they wanted to pay me through pay pal and then they were saying they needed the address and my registration information so that someone can come pick up the truck the email that sent this to me was [email protected]
That [email protected] is a scam. Went all the way with it until I tried to cash the check and found out is was fake. Kept all my correspondence with this fruit and got all the proof I need to back me up if authorities are involved. I can’t believe someone tried to get me. I got to much to lose to be playing these childish games with someone. I wish his email was on this website before I went through with this mess. I tried to google it before but it never showed on this website until two days ago. I am a good example, BE CAREFUL PEOPLE! Keep your eyes open, I know mine are after this.
I’m pretty sure this is a scam, but I can’t quite figure out how it works.
I listed a car on Craigslist & immediately recieved a response from a buyer stating they would pay me $50 right now to remove the ad so no one else will respond to it. Having dealt with cons from Craigslist before, I immediately became suspicious of the buyer, but decided to email them anyway and probe a little futher. I was expecting them to offer to send me a cashiers check or to use Western Union in one way or another. But they didn’t.
The buyer didn’t ask any questions about the car, didn’t try to negotiate the price, and most importantly; they wanted to buy the car site-unseen and would send their ‘pick-up’ guy to get the car after the transaction was complete.
Here’s where I’m stumped. They want to pay with a ‘prepaid visa card’. I’ve researched the web and have found some scams involving prepaid cards and they seem to be easy to manipulate and very hard to trace, but I couldn’t find anything that would fit this scam.
There’s no doubt in my mind the offer comes from a con, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how they would use a prepaid bank card to their advantage.
I know how they scam with cashiers checks, Western Union, etc, they tried that with me before on a different ad.
If anyone knows anything about this new type of scam please post it.
