I almost fell for this scam on May 25, 2010. I responded to a Craigslist ad for a Virtual Assistant. Thank God for this scam alert. The email came from Mark White. I knew this was a scam with all the grammatical errors and misspelled words. After wasting much of my time this morning, here’s the final email below before I told this scammer I planned to report him/her to the FTC.

paychecks to a group of workers on a daily basis via the mail by using
cuireer company UPS or USPS i will be paying for the postage as well. So
please do go to any Office Depot, Staples or Wal-Mart store and get the
Business size check paper) and order for the software online { Versa Check
Gold 2010}. so that you can start the tutorial by noon tomorrow i will tutor
you how to make a daily list of my client.The list will be sent to you via
email daily. You will only have to work only two or three hours on your job
according to the hours that suit you best during the day.

Has anyone got a email or a IM from a John Ola about the samething
Ok I was about to make a fool of myself, if I didn’t read this Google search on Versa Check Gold 2010. Geez I was going to train for it and all! Thank Gosh I didn’t! I have recently recieved alot of job offers for payroll assistant, payment Representative and even being personal assistants. But after a family member of mine told me that if any job offer is asking you to deposit money into your account, ITS A SCAM!. So cause of that I have turned down alot of jobs that was sounding good. I have recently gotten on from a girl named Kelly Thomas, but when she emailed me back again, it went from Thomas to Michelle. I mean that was my first clue! She can spell pretty well. but for IT she writes IS… Geez I feel like a dummy… She was also sending these emails through her “Blackberry”? I don’t know but this seems a little risky. She talks to me as if I’m dumb as well.. I mean I even got smart with her!! haha Here is one email, after not responding back to her so quickly, she will write me back telling me she is waiting to read from me.. WOW

I also got emails exactly this as did my husband. she said her name was stephanie jones and another alias was stephanie hughes. she asked me to get supplies but i dont have the money so she said she’d send me a package. she started off emailing for a personal assistant job, said i would run errands, get her mail and keep track or client purchases. she sent me an ipad in the mail to sell (under another name) and then asked me to purchase versacheck paper, envelopes, ink, waybills from fedex AND ups. then sent me the versacheck gold program and wanted me to print out checks for insane amounts. there was at least 30 names and addresses on that list, and all checks were for 2500 and up. My husband received emails from a jeff, and a mark and another guy ben! they all said he would be mailed checks, cash them deduct 10% and mail the rest to their clients. we compared lists and they were the same people!!! i wish we can find a way to turn them all in!!!
I have been going back and forth via e-mail with someone claiming the same stuff. However, the guy says he pays via western union which is gauranteed funds. It wouldn’t be a check that could be fake and have me sedning him the difference. In that instance what would be the scam?

WHAT A SCAM!!!! Do people actually fall for this without any search on the company they want to work for? Email from people overseas and no phone numbers to contact them, and they don’t want to talk to you but they want to hire you for accounts payable/receivable!!!!! (aka MONEY MULE for fake checks). They use a real company names but no one knows who they are if you call the company HR department. And this damn G7PS website, may its owners burn in hell, operates freely as the connection for these nigerian or whatever they are scam artist to look real. G7PS.com sells fake printers. hello people!! a $200 INKJET printer can not print a real bank check. Only $2000 LASER printer can do this. How can the FBI let this site operate? It’s putting U.S. citizens behind bars for becoming money mules yet it keeps letting this f**king site still operate. LETS STOP THE MADNESS PEOPLE.
OMG – I just looked this up myself – I have been on yahoo messenger with the Mario Ruiz – and “I got the job”………….UGH – I replied to a craigslist job posting as well and did the “interview” thru yahoo – and he didn’t ask many questions of me, etc……. and never really did give me answers to the actual job – just simple yes and no answers……….. so I decided to look up his name…….. OMG, This people is the newest, latest scam, and the Versa Gold 2010, must be really good, at printing checks because even the banks can’t tell that it is fake. But the lady that posted when you write all these bogus checks, the FBI is coming after you, and not the scammers. The lady that sent me a check, over did the check by a large amount, she gave me 1980.00 but I was only allowed 400.00, the rest I was suppose to wire by Western Union to another person named Lisa, in Fla. That way the money is gone bye-bye, and all at my expense
because my name is on the check, and at this point the bank will be wanting their 1,980.00 back because, like I said the bank is duped as well. So the bottom line is you will be out the money, and have all this computer stuff, and still no job. From now on be bold, just delete all crap like this off your computer. I am still working on this myself, one lawyer told me to “bank the money”. Don’t buy anything. But Karma makes me do the right thing, I don’t want no part of this.

Pamella, I was sent all the equipment and printer, after I made G7PS cancell the transaction…stupid scammers…I should have at least kept the free printer LOL but after all the headache I wanted nothing to do with it and cut all ties as recommended by my local police dept. YES this operation is a scam!!!
You can add another name to this scam ([email protected]) sent me a similar e-mail regarding VersaCheck Gold 2010. I sent him my resume, references and contact info. I hope he can’t do anything with it!!

I will take it to my Bank (Wells Fargo) the same as the Check is from and see what they say to me about the checks reality and if funds are available.

I posted earlier on Versacheck fraud.THey had us printing & mailing checks out UPS overnight air.UPS told us this was a fraud.I called every bank to verify account they had us use on checks.All accounts were fake! UPS acount used to mail chcks was stolen. After my daughter & I told the scammers we knew they were scammin us,they threatened to find us no matter what and kill us!!! They said they have ways of dealing with us.They cussed us out pretty bad also! Using the “F” word.They texted us & threatened our lives for 2 days.They do have our address unfortunately.So theses people can get VERY nasty!They tried to pay me with a fake check.They told me to make one to myself for $4500,cash it then send the rest to another person via WESTERN union.So I caught them in 2 scams!
I have dealt with a few of these scamers. I have recieved 2 different “fake” checks and money orders. I am keeping them as souvineers. LOL , I am bored sometimes so, I PLAY WITH THEM SOMETIMES!! I obviousely have too much time on my hands. Anyway, one of them told me of a lady named Aishah from another country who does not know me and was dying and wanted to leave me millions of US dollars after her death. She supposedly died a couple of months later and then of course the Attorney who takes care of her will emailed me and told me that I needed to send him $450 because that is the cost of what it would cost him to get a money order/bank check to mail to me. At first he insisted that I give him my account info. I told him I had no bank account. LOL Then one time I told him to send me a round trip ticket to England and I would reimburse him with my inheritance money. I said I wanted to pick up the money myself. He said he could not, and I told him I could not understand how a Lawyer could not afford a few dollars to do this. In the end, when I find out the checks are bad, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE TELLING THEM OFF!!!!!!! This is my favorite thing to do!!! LOL it is kinda fun!!! and it burns off internal steam. Anyway, have fun with the ones who try to scam you!! It feels great!!!!

I have received check and started some more research and questioned Michelle Maness about the check – She said the secretary made a mistake on the amount and I needed to cash the check and let he know when I had the cash and she would give me the address to send the extra money. So, after spending the last 3hrs reading and re-reading everyones posts on here I believe this is exactly what just happened and is happening to me now. I was selling a TV stand on Craigslist and was contacted via email asking if the item was still 4-sale when I replied yes they asked for my address so a money order could be mailed. When I recieved it I was suppose to contact them for pickup. After I got the check and verified it with the bank it was fake, and it was 3500.00 for a 300.00 TV stand I was selling and yet of course they wanted me to send the funds back because they over paid me, on accident, ok right who really over pays someone 3200.00 and not just stop payment if it was a real error. I knew it was a scam, then the same lady Flora sends me and email after I refused to send her funds back, telling me that she was sorry for the misunderstanding, and that she would like me to keep some of the funds for my time. I told her what I did with the check and that there was actually a stop payment put on the check after it was issued. She blamed it on her client and said would I like a job, out of no where, so I played along and after about this job, and it is the exact same thing everyone is reporting, the paper, the software the Versa Check, I told her I had no money sorry I can’t do that. She then proceeded to ask me to do postings for her and she would pay me 250-300 bi-weekly for 1-2hrs a week posting ads on craigslist.com for her. Company’s name is “Harpoon Work and Wears Inc” but of course after looking it up I find nothing. I have her on chat as well. She is telling me she is in KY but I never find her online except weird hrs of the night and early morning. I think these people need to be be taking down and I think Craigslist needs to get better at who and what they allow posted on their website.

Honkamp from Honkamp Krueger & Co. but it is coming from [email protected] and they texted me through some free texting service rather than an actual number. Obvious scam, was suspicious from the beginning, I hope no one out there is actually falling for this. I know that in tough times when you are looking for work you’re willing to believe almost anything just to make money, it’s a shame there are people out there in the world doing this to people.
