I received a letter saying I had won $500,000 and a Dell Laptop from MSN/Yahoo, in a contest I know I never entered. And why give someone a laptop computer if you're getting half a million dollars. That was when the first red flag came up, in addition to my unfamiliarity with the relationship between MSN and Yahoo!, which I presume to be competitors. But I rolled with the flow until they wanted around $600 up front to deliver my package. I e-mailed them asking how do I know this isn't a scam? In the reply, a complete stranger gave me his word that it wasn't a scam, which I found laughable. Finally, he suggested that I was perhaps jittery scared due to the large amount of funds won (lol). He continued to cite UK laws for internet fraud, but offered no way for me to check out the company, like something similar to the better business bureau. They're nuts and scammers.

This is so obviously a scam. I have received one very similar to it. First of all, what total stranger would have 1 million dollars just sitting there waiting from me. It is from Africa. What business do I have with anyone there? And what about all the grammatical and spelling errors? That is a dead giveaway. Anyone who sends the $200 deserves to lose that money as the price of their education in "How to avoid scams"
