Golf cart scam, again!

This has been posted several times, all under different names and email addresses. They listed a golf cart on Craigslist: EZ-GO golf cart – $2571 (city of chicago)
Limo style golf cart with folding windshild, mirrors, lights, horn, custom sound system with CD player AM/FM radio.
fully carbon fiber dash board with 4 cup holders and 2 storage compartments.
2004 ez-go golf cart
48 volt battery powered system with high speed motor
Custom black and sliver leather seats with blue pinstriping.

Response to first email re: interest in the cart:
Hello,
First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my golf cart. I am selling it at this price ($2500) because I just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce has finished i owned this golf cart. Now as a woman i don’t need it. This golf cart is in excellent working condition, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title.
From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services.
We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for $20,000.
The final price that I want for this golf cart is $2500 US including shipping and handling.
If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.

I’m very busy with my job and I’m left out of the town so I can’t meet in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my golf cart over the internet. According to eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the golf cart to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
Here is how it will work:

2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices.
The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment.
4. eBay will contact me and I will ship the golf cart to you. After you receive the golf cart you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the golf cart. If you will buy, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.

That looks like an internet cafe or mall or strip mall. They send a fake invoice that looks like its from ebay. It’s not. I luckily figured it out before sending money. If something is too good to be true…

I was just scammed too by this same person! I’m sure I’ll receive an invoice soon to pay her but luckily I discovered the scam before any payment was made! Yep, it did seem too good to be true, therefore I started investigating! Mean people suck!

I almost fell for the exact same scam in Atlanta. Same exact emails, address and contact (Linda Norris). I caught on before seeing this posting due to cautions for fraud listed on the actual eBay Motors web site. Thanks for posting Greg…
Yup, they are working the MPLS MN craigslist – knew it sounded too good to be true!!! My emails from them were exactly the same!!!
This is a variation on the Western Union/Ebay scam. They are doing this same scam with many different items. Concession trailers, motorcycles, specialty cars, embroidery machines, anything of high price value, usually 10-20k+ retail value. The scam is always the same, and the sale price seems to stay around 2-3k. They list the item in MANY, MANY cities at once, but only 1 time per city. The item is ALWAYS somewhere else from where they and you are and is never viewable for one reason or another. Usually the item is already with the “shipper” and can only be viewed if the person is there and they are somewhere else. They want your name and address because Western Union is requiring that now to pick up the money as they are trying to crack down on scams and still stay in business. Then the scammer will send you a fake Ebay looking email and tell you to send the money.
I was almost scammed by this as well. Got that fake invoice. Got those e-mails about Linda’s divorce and the shipping company in Miami. Word for word like everything posted above. The fact that this person was willing to ship the cart all the way from Florida to Miami for no charge just for me to test it was a red flag. And the fact that this eBay “agent” is in New York. I tried googling Linda Norris, and the first thing that popped up was “Linda Norris golf cart”. I clicked on it and found this page along with another warning of the scam.

That’s kinda scary…..I just bought a very inexpensive golf cart from ebay, and now I’m worried it won’t come…..
it is here in KC also. there is a golf cart for sale on craigs list and it has the exact same responce letter back, it is a red ezgo workhorse in the picture here.

hey, they have a new one on there that is a red gas powered 4 seater. . just received the same response. buyer beware. if you can’t go look at it, don’t buy it. i am a PayPal Account Exec and Ebay doens’t have a payment system, it all would go though us and they say they don’t take PayPal, Only Ebay. Red Flag from the start. Cheers!

Just today (August 24) I was dealing with Evelyn Parker on a 2004 ez-go gas golf cart with the whole divorce story. Seemed too good to be true, so I kept asking for her phone # before I committed, and she never would give it to me. I live in North Dakota, and it was posted on CraigsList her. BEWARE of this TROLL!!!!!
just over this weekend i almost fell for the evelyn parker scam for a 2004 red gas golf cart this is on craigslist in baltimore md. ebay uses paypal don’t have ther own payment system posted 10-12 10 watch out it was to good to be true

Ms. Evelyn Parking is trying the same scam in Indiana. She is trying to offload a 2004 EZ-GO golf cart for $2400. Received the same e-mails as listed above. Like others stated, the deal sounded too good to be true and decided to do some homework. Sure enough….a scam in the works. I’ve since notified Craigslist to remove the ad. Buyer beware!

She’s still trying. Even uses the same picture in Mississippi and Texas. I got the standard “husband died” email from her. This one was $2442. I’ve been following her post on CL and reporting her but CL hasn’t deleted some of her ads.
I have a beautiful stretch Golf Cart I am trying to sell if anyone is interested I can send them pictures. I am moving and have no need for it. I paid $11,000 two years ago and will sell to the highest bidder.

just wanted to give all a heads up. Ebay does not have their own payment system. it’s either PayPa or send a check. that is how i caught that it was a scam as i am in sales at PayPal and she refused to use PayPal for payment and insisted on Ebay for payment. Once i told her i work for Ebay/PayPal and told her you can’t pay via Ebay, she stopped responding to my Emails. Good luck and don’t get suckered.
There is a golf cart for sale on Craig’s List that I am very suspicious of. The listing appears in San Diego, Indianapolis, Miami, and other locations. Is this for real or another scam? The seller, David Benson, claims to be in the military and is going to be shipped to Afganistan and wants to sell his golf cart.
