I almost fell for this scam on May 25, 2010. I responded to a Craigslist ad for a Virtual Assistant. Thank God for this scam alert. The email came from Mark White. I knew this was a scam with all the grammatical errors and misspelled words. After wasting much of my time this morning, here’s the final email below before I told this scammer I planned to report him/her to the FTC.

paychecks to a group of workers on a daily basis via the mail by using
cuireer company UPS or USPS i will be paying for the postage as well. So
please do go to any Office Depot, Staples or Wal-Mart store and get the
Business size check paper) and order for the software online { Versa Check
Gold 2010}. so that you can start the tutorial by noon tomorrow i will tutor
you how to make a daily list of my client.The list will be sent to you via
email daily. You will only have to work only two or three hours on your job
according to the hours that suit you best during the day.

Ok I fell for this…His name was Mike Roger…seemed super nice…picture on im was of an older man by a piano. for the past two weeks bent over backwards and ran all over town getting envelopes…with my 1 yr old daughter in tow…i feel so stupid. can i get in trouble? i was sucked in.
Apparently they aren’t done. A year since the 1st post and they’re still at it. Got the letter after posting a resume to Craigslist. I bypassed a reply and yim’d him myself. This is the exchange.

I just received the same offer as those listed on here. My contact was Christopher Clemons with Payroll Printing, Inc. After asking about their website I was told it was “under construction” and when asking about being paid I was told I would be an “employee” and they would take care of the taxes. Being an accountant for 15 years I questioned him about not needing a tax ID number. He became defensive and basically said “do you want to work for this company or not”. I basically didn’t answer him again. I am going to try and find out more so I can report him.

So i just had an encounter with a Scam Artist
Named Brad Scott.
He wanted me to purchase Versa Check Gold and buy the business check forms.
I never purchased Versa Check Gold. So he decided to email me the checks and just have me print them. He never asked me to set up a USPS account but he did want me to print the checks and send them via USPS. He would also send the labels. Im sure with a fake USPS account.
I did it one time and he was very pushy. He would text and email me constantly asking did i drop it off.
Then he sent me a Western Union for 100.
After that he begin to get very annoying.
He text me multiple times in an hour back to back.
When i responded he told me he sent me a Money Gram for 1500 dollars and needed me to pick it up. 150 was for me and the rest should be sent to a “charity”.
Thats when i knew this was a scam because he does not know me and he is sending me money of that large amount.
I asked what charity. He sent me the information for the Charity and it was located in Nigeria. I figured it was a scam and stop replying and never picked up the money from the money gram.
I tried to file a police report but because i was not scammed i could not file a report. The scam artist still sends me IM messages telling me it is not a scam.
Be aware because this is illegal and printing false checks are illegal.
you are helping steal money from other people accounts by sending these fake checks.
